Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the stove building and the maintenance of the healthy and safe kitchens facilities such as the shower areas, latrines, dish racks, rubbish pits and the high risen firewood storages. When she reached there, she went to the meeting place and found three group leaders who warmly welcomed her to the village, they immediately got up and went to one of the members home where the other members had gone and found them in the process of building the saving stove. Suzan appreciated their work and encouraged them to always do so every time they found free time because this would enable them learn faster and easily. The banana stems had also been cut in proper ways and taken inside the kitchen which was so encouraging to see. Suzan entered into the kitchen and guided the members as they continued building the stove because they needed to learn some skills especially placing the stems in between the stove and saucepans which was still a bit hard for them. At the end of everything, the stove was complete and the owner of the stove rejoiced upon receiving the new stove, singing and dancing at the same time. Suzan requested magrate the owner to see that she didn’t cook on the stove until it was one full month old because it would have dried up by that time. Same applied to all the new members who had just received new stoves in their kitchens. She also encouraged all the members to always repair their facilities and smear all their buildings so as to avoid dust and other diseases. They thanked Suzan for the visit and advice given that day and the meeting came to an end.
