Notes
Ida went to Kasuleta to teach about feeding the chics and also continued with hatching lesson. Preparing chickens for hatching, needs the following things to be done: Prepare laying stations, getting trays/ baskets where to keep eggs, thatching the kitchen where chickens lay from and prepare feeds. Ida taught the community to prepare feeds for chics before they are hatched to avoid loosing chics. As children have specific foods when below six years the same applies to chickens. We have three types of feeds for different ages of chickens. Chic and Duck Mash is for chics from day one to week eight. Growers mash is for cocks(roosters) fro week nine to week twenty. Layers mash for hens from week nine to the end. Ida encouraged the community to form a group in order to simplify the load. If one can’t afford to have a bag of one hundred kilograms, they can add together resources.
