Notes
Harriet and Jeska went toKazimba Kungira village to continue teaching participants how to practically build stoves. They had planned to go with the community development officer( CDO) for Iwemba Sub county to help mobilize the participants to participate in the program because the number of participation is still low . Unfortunately on they way to the village , they called him on the phone but the CDo let them down that he was attending an inauguration ceremony at the District where the counselors were swearing in thus unable to go with her to Kazimba Kungira. However kibo staff proceeded to the village where they were joined by the VHT to try to encourage participants to attend the kibo meetings and participate in the program. They had planned to work with this community the previous Monday but the activity was instructed by rainfall that failed kibo staff to reach the village. They reached in the village and begun by inspecting the stove that kibo had requested the participants to try to remove banana stems from to see whether they had done it right. Kibo staff was so disappointed to see that the participants did not even try. The participants told kibo staff that the reason why they did not try they feared to mess up the stove. Kibo staff removed the banana stems from the previously built stove.since it had taken too long the banana stems had started trying in the stove that it was hard to remove. Kibo staff struggled to remove the banana stems ,shaped the stove as the participants they were watching. They also asked them to keep on practicing because practice makes perfect. Kibo staff together with the participants later headed to the home of Akrol Josephine who was to get a stove for that day. This is an old woman in the village. She had already collected the dirt that will be used to build a stove. When kibo staff gathered at the home where a stove was to be built some participants who had got stoves earlier stayed back at their homes. This was so annoying to kibo staff who decided to go and pick them up to work for this old woman since she had also been working with them when ever kibo was working in their homes. Kibo staff worked with the participants and built one stove for Josephine. When Josephine saw a complete stove in her kitchen she was so happy and thanked kibo for the love shown to her because she has always left behind in her community . She added that the community thinks she is old , poor and nobody in the community. She equated kibo’s to the love of Jesus Christ who loved us the way we are. Kibo staff also encouraged the participants to love one another despite of tribe, color, race or wealth because Jesus Christ loves us equally. Kibo staff thanked every one for the work done and encouraged them to continue working together for the program to be effective.
