When Tom and the police officer arrived to the village of kisiro, they found a few of the village residents in the trading center carrying on with their daily duties. Tom and the police officer decided to wait for some of the committee members at the meeting place while charting with some residents about the village and especially about the current state of sanitation in the village. After a short while, a few committee members arrived and Tom suggested that before the meeting, they first move around the trading center section to check on what some of the residents are doing in regards to sanitation and hygiene improvements. The committee members agreed to move around and as they were moving, they found three new pits being dug in the trading center section. One of the pits was 15ft while the other two were in their beginning stages. Tom and the committee members thanked the residents for what they are doing and encouraged them to work and finish the latrines. Tom also shared about hand washing with them. After they crossed over to another side of the trading center where they found severe open defecation in two homes. One of the homes is for Mr Lufuuke who was using the structure of an old latrine as a latrine. The committee members suggested that Mr Lufuuke should work to improve on his sanitation standards as he has never owned a latrine before. The committee members called one of his brothers who offered to speak to Lufuuke about the matter. After moving around, they gathered for the meeting. The turn up for the meeting was not good as many people were busy involved in politics or elections in the village. They decided to meet with the few about 35 people who had turned up. In the meeting Tom asked the residents how the program of sanitation and hygiene and benefited them. Many said they have benefited because now they own latrines while others said it is good to see more people with latrines. Tom after the discussion also offered to read to them the names of the residents still without latrines from the evaluation. They all accepted and Tom read the names out for them. All the residents in the meeting accepted the readings and that they were factual. For those who were in the meeting and heard their names being read promised to finish their facilities while some even called out each other to act and change. The police officer also shared with them about the value of improved sanitation and hygiene standards. Because the meeting had a very small in number, they all decided to mobilize together with the new chairmen for the next meeting. Tom after left for jinja.
