Notes
Alex, the police officer, LC 1 and the sanitation committee first visited the individuals to check if there was any progress in those homes since last week. They found when Mutoto Fred had started building a structure on his new pit latrine. They continued to encourage other homes to also complete these facilities.
While in the meeting, Alex and the police officer encouraged the village leaders to move to those homes and continue talking to them on what should be done. Alex told that only if these homes meet our standards, that is when a new well shall be drilled in this community. This calls for a more joint effort between the local leaders and Kibo group WASH staff to push these homes a little more.
While in the meeting they discussed about how feeding those that are to work on this new well construction have to entirely be fed by the community. The new water user committee that was selected by the community members is led by a woman , Ewuleni Nakilanda and it’s comprised of 5 people. This committee has already mobilized the borehole contributions required (300,000/=) and have also collected money to take care of the workers. Alex asked the committee to be ready for this process as it calls for a lot of sacrifice in time and guiding the community on what to do. He called on the community members to work together and cooperate during the survey process. The community members also agreed on a middle point in the community that will be considered while surveying and to make sure that everyone in the community allow the surveyor do his job without interfering. Alex will continue to prepare the village through all the steps guiding them on what the village has to do during this process of borehole drilling.
