Notes
Isaac one of the member on the sanitation committee, for along time never had a kitchen in his home but he recently completed a new one. His wife worked closely with him to come up with this new kitchen and she was very proud that now his family can have a meal even when it rains. Alex found them cooking when it had rained heavily that day and she thanked Kibo for talking to them and encouraging them to have a kitchen in their home. Moses also is in the process to complete his new pit latrine. For along time his old pit latrine had collapsed and he has managed to put up a new one which they hope to complete soon. Alex did encourage them to continue working on it and even put a door for their own privacy. Grace wakasanke is also improving to the extent that he completed to his dish rack and now repairing his old kitchen that has broken walls. This home has been quite stubborn and slow to work but now has also started to build a structure on their pit latrine. In general, there is a great sanitation improvement in the village and the Sanitation committee together with the village LC committee has been very active to encourage people to have all these facilities in their homes. It had rained that day and many of people spent longer hours in the garden. Also the village road was very slippery and impassable that it was quite hard to reach some homes in the lower part of the village. WASH will plan to go back and conduct a second evaluation of the village to assess the village sanitation soon and continue following up on the remaining homes to meet the standards required.
