Notes
Tom visited igerera A section especially the upper section. When he arrived, he was joined by a committee member and together they moved on the upper section. In that section, they found a home with a new pit and in another homes, they also found an elderly man with no latrime. They encouraged him to start on digging a pit as having a Latrine was very important. He accepted and promised to start on the pit in the next few days. Tom also encouraged him to go and get a pick axe from the chairman to help him in the digging. Along the road, they also found two new latrine. Tom encouraged the residents about the standards and one of them offered to reconstruct the structure for a better and stronger structure. There was also a resident who had started on a new pit and Tom encouraged him about the depth as well as the construction methods. The resident said he was, going to finish with the pit and once it’s done, he would wait for Tom for more advise about the construction. While Tom was walking around with the committee member, he saw a lady with two jerican moving to the swamp and later another young boy whom was being followed by another lady. Tom asked the committee member where they were going to collect water and the committee member offered to take him to the swamp were they collect the water. When Tom arrived, he saw an old and dirty spring that the residents were getting water from. Tom asked why they went there and they said it was the only closest place. They also said they use the water for drinking at times and well as many other home uses.
